Distelvlinder (Vanessa Cardui)

Painted Lady (UK) or Cosmopolitan (North-America).

 

Vanessa cardui is one of the most widespread of all butterflies, found on every continent except Antarctica and South America. According to me an often underestimated butterfly. How can you not marvel at that intricate pattern on the outer wings?
