Sighting down the Cascades from 10,000 feet in 2001
An almost-summer late afternoon sun lights the Cascade Mountain chain in Oregon. Viewed from the window seat at 10,000 feet in 2001, 11,000 foot Mt Hood is in the fore and Mt Jefferson and the Three Sisters are in the distance to the south.
The Hood River Valley and Columbia River Gorge lie below.
This image was taken with a 3 megapixel Canon G1, my first digital camera. The shot is difficult to reproduce today since electronic devices must be turned off below 10,000 feet.
