Twilight comes to Wishram

The tiny town of Wishram, nestles below the north walls of the Columbia River Gorge in eastern Washington.

Mt. Hood rises in the distance against a golden sky.

Wishram is located just a half mile above the head of Celilo Falls, the great falls that disappeared with the completion of The Dalles Dam in 1957.

A town with a long history first recorded in Lewis and Clark's journal, today Wishram is a rail hub for trains from Oregon and California.

The entire span of the bridge is filled with cars from a single train.

Interstate 84 runs along the Oregon border on the far side of the Columbia River.
