The Cockney "Odd Man" (a bit like the "Best Boy" in films. Have you ever wondered what they do?) expects to buy a wonder horse. The internal combustion engine equivilant would be a 4 x 4 that also served as a mini, a tractor, a bus, a motor bike and a hand cart.
The fact of the matter is that the Victorian Middle Classes had to have their horses as a sign of status ~ but neither they nor their Cockney servants understood the beasts.
A bit like cars today.
