Painted Hills
Coming home last week from a short trip to Vancouver I had to stop at the rest stop overlooking Painted Hills that are just North of Hat Creek along the Hwy 97. I usually take a short break here and capture few images with my camera. This image that I have posted is one of them, excluding the big truck with drilling equipment that has been parked across from these beautiful hills. I was thinking is this by any chance of coincidence that they are they are exploring for mineral wealth or are they just drilling water well. At this time I don’t know what the project is, but I know that the area is very rich in coal deposits. Is it going to be another proposed mine for future, just like “New Prosperity” mine by Fish Lake by Taseko Mine Ltd., it has my local community dived in regard to federal government decision made by rejecting it on basis of environmental assessment?
I just have to say that the destruction of environment is still in its infancy in this province in which powerful industrial lobbies successfully resist need changes and that some elected provincial officials stand by their side.
