diary 18 July 16 2009 the window sill
so my challenge was - in five minutes, appreciate this window sill - editing takes much much longer of course, but then? vision is renewed and opened and I see details, deep colors in deep shadow and life is that much closer to Gerard Manley Hopkins' verse:
As kingfishers catch fire, dragonflies dráw fláme;
As tumbled over rim in roundy wells
Stones ring; like each tucked string tells, each hung bell’s
Bow swung finds tongue to fling out broad its name;
Each mortal thing does one thing and the same:
Deals out that being indoors each one dwells;
Selves—goes itself; myself it speaks and spells
