Weathering in recent times has exploited variations in the resistance of different layers of Devonian sandstones to produce strangely sculpted features. The sandstone is aeolian in origin - deposited as wind-blown dunes in the Old Red Sandstone desert landscape.

When this picture was taken it was the lambing season and I couldn't get within 50 yards of the rock so these are all telephoto shots. I'll be back for the close-up shots.
