W20W crossing the Severn (pjs,0575)

Even Peter slipped up sometimes. In this picture of GWR railcar W20W crossing the Severn he took a colour picture then grabbed a black and white but missed the gap and got the bridge warning sign across the front.

The railcar is taking the line through the Wyre forest towards Tenbury Wells. The line was fully open at this time (29/06/1957). The complete route ran from Bewdley to a junction on the North and West at Wooferton;

The Tenbury Wells to Wooferton section closed 31/07/1961 and Bewdley to Tenbury Wells closed 01/08/1962.

AEC railcar W20W was the first Swindon bodied railcar to be taken into stock, it was introduced 04/06/1940.
