Vermilion Flycatcher and some Red, White, and Blue

Catalina Foothills. Arizona.

I think this is the first time I've located this species by song which was a lot of fun. They show up in parts of Florida (mostly I've seen them in the Florida panhandle) during the winter and they seem to be somewhat territorial then. Knowing the general area they've been seen is the way I've found them in winter. We also had them 9 years ago in SEAZ and several years back I had them in the Texas hill country but I located them by sight in those instances.

In this instance I was using my walk about lens in the neighborhood where we had our Airbnb when I heard this individual in the vicinity of a well vegetated desert wash area.
