The Prince's Mosque (Şehzade Camii) was built between 1544 and 1548 by Sinan (the Architect) to commemorate the memory of one of Süleyman's sons, the crown prince Mehmet. This mosque is Sinan's first truly important architectural commission which he regarded as the best work of his apprenticeship.
