The Milky Way

I recently shot this, with help from Michael Relich, from the parking lot of the famous Horseshoe Bend lookout near Page, AZ.

We took 6 1-minute exposures at ISO 3200 and f/2.8 on a Sigma 50mm f/1.4. The camera was mounted on a telescope tracking mount, which helped to minimize star trails in the image. I aligned and averaged the six exposures in Photoshop to reduce noise, and then made various contrast, saturation, and white balance adjustments. This is definitely my best Milky Way image to date.
