Comet NEOWISE over Half Dome
I thought I was done editing the photos from 2020's Half Dome night photography extravaganza, but I received a request to edit a timelapse video scene into a still frame. I stacked roughly 500 A7R3 frames (my computer was not happy!) to show the hiker light trails, and I used a single one of those frames for the sky. The original timelapse video can be viewed at vimeo.com/453073583, and a selection of photos from the trip can be viewed at sgphotos.com/photostories/griffhalfdome/.
The trip was organized by Griff Joyce, who hiked Half Dome for his 50th time on his 50th birthday with 50 friends. This camera was set up by Matthew Saville, who had a major off-trail hike to reach here. Kurt Lawson, whose lights are on the far right side of the photo, filmed timelapse from Mt. Watkins. I was off the right side, atop Clouds Rest. We all collaborated and have shared the photos.
