Milky Way over Lake Dorothy
The mosquitoes were the worst I've ever encountered, but the scenery was pretty. Raiatea and I spent two nights at this lake and only saw one other pair of people. The fairly treacherous river crossing kept the riffraff out, I guess. This was taken during blue hour, before the complete darkness of the night, and there was a perfect level of haze to diffuse the stars. Jupiter is right of the milky way, and Saturn is the bright object left of it. The stars of Scorpio's tail are also quite noticeable. This is a single exposure--there was no twilight foreground blending.
