Milky Way and Tower
On my one and only full day off at Astrocamp, a friend and I hiked up Tahquitz Peak. We were caught in the dark 3/4 of the way up the trail, and decided to spend the night on the summit. This fire lookout tower was perched on the top of the mountain, and we camped right next to it. We believed that the tower was occupied, so we set up our tents extremely quietly. I set up my Rebel XT to film timelapse right after taking this photo, and shot some photos of our camp with my 20D. We awoke at 5 AM the next morning and packed up our tents in the dark. We watched the sunrise from the summit and finally discovered that the tower was NOT occupied, so our nervousness was unwarranted.
