Yosemite Falls and Milky Way
While zooming around Google Earth, I found a number of unique angles in the Yosemite backcountry from which I could photograph the milky way and waterfalls. So last spring, Raiatea and I headed to Yosemite for a few days of backpacking and astro-landscape photography from those spots. The waterfalls were raging and there was still substantial snow in the high country. It was a long off-trail slog through the slushy snow to find this spot, but the view was absolutely worth it. We camped on the rim of the valley, looking down at the Yosemite Falls trail and other landmarks.
This is a still frame from timelapse video filmed over eight hours. The valley is lit by a setting moon.
14mm, f/2.8 on a Nikon 14-24 adapted to Canon.
