Moonbow Over Waimea Canyon

I haven't been posting to Flickr as much as I would like--sorry about that! My time has been eaten by writing my dissertation and attempting to finish my PhD this summer. I have a whole folder of images worth posting here, and will do so eventually.

I took a rare break and flew over to Kauai for Thanksgiving. Raiatea and I backpacked the Na Pali coast, but it rained nearly the entire time. Everything was wet and muddy. On the last night of our trip, we drove to Waimea Canyon.

There was no one around when we stopped at a viewpoint and watched this moonbow over the canyon. I would have timelapsed it, but it was extremely windy and rainy, and I could only take a few photos before needing to wipe down the lens.

This was also my first non-testing use of the Sigma 14mm f/1.8. It replaced the Nikon 14-24 f/2.8 that has been my go-to night photography lens for the last three years.
