From Sea to Summit

After a few months of waiting, the moon set behind the telescopes of Mauna Kea as viewed from Hilo. I calculated the best place to stand using The Photographers Ephemeris. Raiatea and I went to the Hilo bayfront and set up before sunrise. We timelapsed the first light hitting the mountain and then the moon setting behind the telescopes. A 1600mm-equivalent shot of the moon setting behind the telescopes can be viewed here. This is a single image with no compositing.
