Mauna Kea Heavens 3: Finished!
I finished editing together the timelapse footage I've filmed over the last two years of the telescopes atop Mauna Kea. It is posted at vimeo.com/193450743.
This photo is a still from one of the timelapse sequences. Both Keck telescopes were using their adaptive optics lasers to study the black hole at the center of the Milky Way. Each laser is about half a meter (20 inches) wide and emits 10-30 watts of power. For reference, a typical laser pointer is about 0.005 watts. The bright object near the center is the moon.
Lens: Rokinon 12mm f/2.8 fisheye at f/4.
