My 1st Android / G1 Home Screen Widget - thanks Google

Version 1.5 of the G1 firmware/SDK allows users to create widgets.

 

They appear in the list of available widgets and the framework seems pretty flexible.

 

This little twitter widget took less than 20 mins.
