1976 RNZAF Bristol Freighters NZ5903, NZ5911, NZ5912, & NZ5910. An historical moment with four B170s on the 41 Sqn flight-line Tengah during a change-over when NZ5903 was replaced by NZ5910, 15 Nov 1976.

41 Sqn at Changi had a 'nose' hangar to protect the personnel carrying out minor servicing, but there were no heavy aircraft maintenance facilities, so when an aircraft came due for major service (every year or two) it was swapped with one that had been recently repaired, serviced or overhauled. This was known as a change-over.

This photo was taken by Doug Norrie the day NZ5910 arrived from NZ and NZ5903 left Singapore for the last time. This was the very last Bristol Freighter change-over before they all returned to NZ in Dec 1977.

The circular 41 Sqn / NZ map emblem can be seen on the fin of NZ5912. During refurbishment in 2019, it was applied to the fin of NZ5903, on display at the Air Force Museum, indicating that the emblem was on its fin when it returned to NZ. The aircraft was allocated to 1 Sqn on return to NZ and the emblem was painted over.
