Boston Harbor
To me, Boston is the most "American". Not in the way that New York, San Francisco, or Chicago are clearly icons of the US; but in the sense that you can smell the history when you walk down the old brick and cobblestone streets. You can imagine what this harbor would be like when the tea was dumped in the ocean. I hear Philly has a pretty similarly patriotic vibe to it, but I haven't experienced it personally.
Technique: Straightforward shot with the pop up flash on my Nikon D300 adding a little kick to the dark foreground. I had to dodge a bit of concrete to make up for the area where the lens was blocking the light from the flash (a separate flash would have been better, but I was traveling very light).
