Gull
I've been trying to get a decent shot of the tidal pool at North Berwick for over a year now, but it's never worked out. If the tide is right then the weather is not, if both look good then the beach is crawling with kids running all around the wall of the pool. Finally back in June everything came together - the rain that day had cleared the beach, the clouds were perfect and the tide was right.
The tide drops quickly here, so I reckon you have no more than 20 or 30 mins to shoot the wall before the sea level gets too low and lots of distracting rocks appear in the frame. I was all set up under my brolly and ready to go as the wall of the pool started to appear, then about ten or so ducks and a few seagulls swam over and stood on the wall. What a stroke of luck - I managed one shot before two kids ran around the wall and chased them off, but luckily the two gulls came back and kindly remained still in various spots while I grabbed a few frames.
I really should have bought a poke of chips for those two gulls that night, this one was particularly helpful and remained nicely still wherever he, or she, stood. Thankfully very few people were around to see me repeatedly whispering "Don't move, don't move" over and over again as I exposed!
