Inside Haleakala

This is a view from the western rim of Haleakala looking into the valley at one of the many volcanic cones.

 

The cone you see in the far distance is huge. You can just see the hiking trail down to the cone and it took us 1 hour just to hike that small stretch. It then took 3 hrs to hike out because of the altitude.
