'Biolume' - Samuel H Boardman Scenic Corridor

Nothing worth doing is ever easy is it?

During my second visit to this cliff with Michael Shainblum, I was kind of grumpy because I'd lost my tripod to the Pacific Ocean. Luckily I had a second tripod but my mood was still righteously sour.

I'd need perfect conditions for our planned milky Way shoot if I had any chance of cheering up.

This was our second attempt at this shot in the Samuel H Boardman Scenic Corridor. The first night ended in failure when that treacherous Pacific fog flooded our shot and occluded the stars.

Both Michael and I feared that the fog would scupper our chances a second time so you can imagine our delight as the night got clearer as it got darker.

That was enough to cheer me right up.

Things got even better as we got to witness and capture a subtle bioluminescence in the water which really added to the magical atmosphere of the evening. You can see it on the right of the frame around those rocks.

That night was also memorable because after we were done shooting, we headed back to the car at 1am and shot the infamous 'velociraptor' scene for my vlog.

There are only a few times in life where I've laughed so hard that I lost all control of myself. This was one of those times. If you've seen the bloopers form that episode you'll know what I'm talking about.

If you haven't seen it, do your soul a favour and go watch it now.

Thanks for looking
