'Full Scottish Breakfast' - Kilchurn Castle, Loch Awe

My grumbling stomach almost My grumbling stomach almost cost me this shot.

 

I got there nice and early for the sunrise in hopes of catching some nice morning side light with a touch of mist.

 

After about an hour of shooting and lots of cloud, the clock was ticking and it was getting close to the cutoff time for my full Scottish Breakfast at the BnB.

 

After agonizing over the potential loss of a tremendous breakfast just for the unlikely chance of the sun poking through the heavy cloud, I finally crumbled.

 

I trudged back over the boggy march to the hire car and drove off back to the BnB with black pudding in mind.

 

After about 10 minutes the clouds opened up, bathed the hills in gold and pushed the morning mist into overdrive.

 

I turned the car around and broke a few speed limits.

 

My previously careful negotiation of the boggy marsh turned into a 'Tough Mudder' finale and I managed to hit the lake shore just in time to snap off a few choice shots, breakfast long forgotten.

 

A few air punches and delighted expletives were exchanged between myself and Steve Taylor (the only other photographer at the scene) and I drove off for the second time with a Cheshire cat grin.

 

Sod breakfast.
