When you head to a location like Mono Lake, you're typically hoping for something interesting to happen in the clouds.

 

To say I was delighted with the cloud shenanigans this evening would be a major understatement.

 

This night broke my two year losing streak of getting nothing but mediocre sunsets.

 

Not only did we get a double dose of lenticular clouds but that 'cloud shadow' that you see in the centre of the frame was totally new to me.

 

At that point I was expecting unicorn riding elves to arrive just to finish the shot perfectly.
