Sidney Crutchley At Teddesley Street, Walsall
My best guess on the date of this photograph is that it was taken sometime around 1938.
I was working on my garden in Reedswood this afternoon, trying to tidy it up for Spring, and I recalled this photograph of my paternal Grandfather Sidney Crutchley. He loved his garden.
Sidney worked in Walsall's leather industry for his entire life. Take a look at this:

Latterly Sidney lived at 131 Coalpool Lane and there he had an equally well tended garden. The house and gardens that you can see in Teddesley Street are of course long gone.
But those were the days! This generation actually did the gardening wearing a tie!
