White Duck Feather

Photographing a small white feather on a white background proved to be harder than I thought it would be. I started with sunlight but after it got dark I switched to a simple set-up with a couple of lights and one white screen. One light in the front up high and one behind the light screen in back of the feather. I made quite a few focus stacks that didn't work, this one had five shots stacked in PS and I was happy with the detail. I didn't desaturate the final image and post was very minimal.

I wanted to come up with a submission for the High Key theme and thought it would be a good time to photograph a snow goose feather that I got a few years back. I couldn't find the feather so I went out and found one from our molting white ducks. This one measures about 2 inches by 2 inches.
