Strong bright light outside, cool darkness inside.

 

It's soon going to be time to hang the chiks outside the windows, to block the harsh sunlight. Instead of hanging them inside the windows, our chiks are hung outside, about 4-5 feet away from the window. They are rolled down from the overhang by mid-morning and rolled up again in the evening, to disappear into the overhang. I wonder how many people still use the chiks like this, since it's quite an old-fashioned way of using them.
