MM - Roasted Chestnut

During the Catalan Chestnut Party (La Castanyada), a fire is prepared for roasting chestnuts. La Castanyada falls halfway between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice, namely the 31st of October (the night before All Saints Day). It originates from old funerary rituals (18th century), commonly used to commemorate ancestors that have passed away.
