Rubber Boa Snake

I found this little Rubber Boa (Charina bottae) while hiking up in the Sierra Nevadas near Yosemite Valley (just to the north by one valley).

This small constrictor has a rubbery appearance and a stout body with stubbed tail. They can be active during temperature gradient where most other reptiles would be immobile. This little guy was found at around 7,000 feet in elevation.
