Ski touring in the fog
A ski-touring week end, in "Devoluy" in the French Alps. The weather was abysmal. I took this shot quickly, as my camera was getting drenched by the snow.
The picture was much more dark and grey. I post-processed it to make it lighter, add contrast, and add color.
Specifically, I used darktable as usual. I used a combination of tone curves, to make the snow and the sky very white, and to add contrast around the tree. I used equalizer filters in "clarity" mode to add contrast around the trees and the people (in particular on the trees in the center); conversely I use equalizer filters in "bloom" filter to decrease contrast in the foreground and on the edge of the road. While editing the curves, I made some vignetting by creating a few darker gradients on top and on the foreground of the image. Finally, I used a color correction filter to add a streak of yellowish color on the top right of the image, to give a bit of joy to the image (it was all blue).
