The Kinkaku-ji, the temple of the Golden Pavilion, or Rokuon-ji, Deer Garden Temple, in the north of Kyoto. The Buddist temple is from 1955. The original was from the 15th century but burned down several times.
You are not allowed inside. The garden is beautiful and the view on the temple is gorgeous but the experience was not good. I came by public bus in the morning and when I arrived, the tourbusses had already unleashed their cattle. So entrance is a couple of hundred yen and then it is selfie-/ insta time in front of the lake and its crowded AF and then it is a 5 min walk through the garden and 10 min past the souvenir stalls.
