by Fylkesarkivet i Vestland

Malla Moe (1863-1953) was born in Hafslo, Norway. Following the death of both of her parents, she moved to Chicago in 1884. In Chicago she came in contact with Fredrik Franson who persuaded her to become a missionary. In 1892 she left for South Africa as a missionary for the Scandinavian Alliance Mission (later the Evangelical Mission). Upon her arrival Moe established Bethel mission station in Swaziland. She also travelled extensively with her gospel wagon, visiting both Tongaland and Zululand. Moe kept working as a missionary in Swaziland till she died at the age of 90.
