Description: The large building on the right is Hjelle Hotel. The hotel was established in 1894 by Thor Hjelle, the same year as the road over Strynefjellet was opened. There was no road from Stryn to Hjelle at that time, however, so the tourists had to travel by boat on the Oppstrynsvatnet lake. Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands stayed at the hotel once a year from 1912 onwards.
