April 10, 2014 Great Lakes Petroleum's permit to install two 10 million gallon storage tanks along the Rouge River was under public comments. MDEQ representatives sat with the community impacted to discuss their opportunity for intervention. It certainly doesn't sound promising.
There is a matter of educating the public in the ways of permitting. The EPA is responding to a request made six years ago - Clean Air Act training will be held April 25-26 for the Environmental Justice community and public. We have to learn better how to object, learn the manner in which industry seems to always hold the upper hand to increase pollution.
