Brasenose College (Orton Effect)
After spotting a reference to this technique on someone else's photostream (thank you eatzycath!), I thought I would try it out. A quick google search found me this procedure for Photoshop. I basically just followed the steps, but the final result was a bit to dreamy for my liking so I backed off the blur by reducing the layer opacity to about 65%.
I kinda like this - its got the dreamy quality of HDR, without the HDR "ugh" factor.
