The Bananaquit (Coereba flaveola) feeds on insects and nectar from flowers. The Bananaquit is a common resident throughout the West Indies and the Caribbean, and on the mainland from southern Mexico to southern Brazil and northeast Argentina. It is absent from arid and humid regions like the Amazon basin, generally below 1500 meters. The Bananaquit can cross large bodies of water and is a rare visitor to South Florida, USA.
