The Cliffs of Neahkahnie HDR
Highest Position Explore #176 03/14/2011 Thank You!
As promised yesterday, here is the fantastic place that our workshop with Exposure Northwest, ended the day! I really feel that this has a "Lord of the Rings" feel to it and expect that Gandolph and the elves would build a fantastic home on the rocky promontory that we positioned ourselves!
This is located in Oswald State Park south of Cannon Beach. The Neahkahnie mountain abruptly rises from the Pacific Ocean to form this fantastic headlands! The waves are ferocious and the power is well respected from our perch. Our workshop probably spent over three to four hours just at this location alone! This location was the cherry on top of the ice cream sundae that Zeb and Aaron served us on Saturday at the workshop! I have all of the participants listed in my previous photo: www.flickr.com/photos/fresnatic/5525484389/ I would encourage you to visit their fine photostreams!
This is a combination of three exposures (-2,0,+2) merged and tonemapped in Photomatix. I cropped and straightened the horizon line in Photoshop, as well as removed some water spots and a darn piece of lint! Final adjustments were done in Lightroom. This image was also the better of the shots I composed for an HDR image as the crashing wave was not blown out in the highlights. I promise to later on post a non-HDR shot.
I have been busy today looking through my contacts photostreams and also connecting with some great new contacts as well. Thank you for your views, comments and faves!
