Snoqualmie Falls HDR 2#1-1

Good day to all of my Flickr friends. I am sorry I have been away from Flickr for so long, but it is the holiday season and work has been extremely busy. This past Saturday was the first real time I have had to go out and take photos. For over the past week we have been hovering between 10-28 degrees for our temperature range here in the Seattle area.

I saw a picture on the front page of the Seattle Times on Saturday and it had a picture of the frozen spray around the falls. I almost kicked myself, as I have been so busy, I did not even think to go to the waterfall during the freezing weather, which would make for a great picture! Well I hopped in my car and took the short drive to the falls as I only live about 7 miles from this wonderful, natural beauty. I was not the only one with this idea! It seemed as if half of Seattle had seen the front page of the Times! Fortunately most people hang out in the observation gazebo above the falls, stumbling over each other for the perfect shot! This is from the lower observation area, which I have always felt was the better view, and is less crowded!

This is a combination of three exposures (+2,0,-2) merged and tonemapped in Photomatix. I made a few adjustments in Lightroom 2 for the vignette and color, then moved to Photoshop to remove a few pesky telephone wires.

I hope all of my friends are doing well and now comes the enjoyable task of catching up on your inspiring photostreams. Thank you so much for your visits, comments and faves.
