End of a good friend
Turned on my Powershot A80 for the first time since may and this is what greeted me. Looks very much like the CCD wiring is shot.
There are two possible causes:
1. This is very similar to problem with the A80 (and a lot of older Canon cameras) and I could try and get it fixed.
2. I dropped my backpack about two weeks ago and while I'm pretty sure the camera wasn't in it, I can't remember.
Either way, it's a sad day and if Canon don't want to know about it (entirely possible) then it's probably cheaper to just buy a new camera. Pity as the A80 took such nice shots.
