Harbinger

The "Harbinger" is a deeply symbolic figure or concept often found in mythology, literature, and popular culture. Generally, the term "harbinger" means a precursor or a messenger, someone or something that announces the coming of a significant event—usually a dark or ominous one.

### Mythological and Literary Depictions

In mythology and literature, the Harbinger is often portrayed as a foreboding entity, heralding destruction, death, or monumental change. This figure doesn’t always cause the events themselves but serves as the harbinger of their arrival. Sometimes, the Harbinger is cryptic—a messenger whose warning becomes fully clear only after the events have unfolded.

A classic example would be the "Harbinger of Death," who appears in many cultures as a kind of deathly omen or a figure like the Grim Reaper, announcing the imminent end of a person’s life. In Greek mythology, the Moirai (Fates) could be seen as Harbingers, weaving the destiny of each person and sealing their ultimate fate.

### Traits and Meaning

Harbinger characters are often mysterious, ominous, and relentless in their mission to announce or influence future events. They typically don't bring hope but fear, as they are associated with an inevitable destiny or death. However, in some stories, the Harbinger may also serve as a warning, giving people one last chance to alter their decisions before the prophesied event comes to pass.
