Drosera (Sundew)

The common English name of this carnivorous plant refers to the drops of mucilage on the tentacles. These are not simple drops of moisture but an active secretion of the plant that increases in bright sunlight - literally "the dew of the sun". The plant uses these tentacles to trap and subsequently digest its prey.
