Vivitar 2800 Modification
Free doesn't always means a good deal.
I've been given this Vivitar 2800 by my girl friend unfortunately this model has a lots of draw backs:
1) No manual adjustments of the power
2) A very annoying auto power of feature
3) A very high sync voltage
Inspired by David Hobby I really wanted to start playing with more than one flash.
Having spent already a lot of money on a SB900, I had to fix this Vivitar 2800 flash.
I followed instructions found on the web to disable the auto power of by adding a resistor to the main board and adding a potentiometer to the control board to adjust the flash power.
A trip to my favourite electronic store and a couple hours later I have a brand new flash with all the options I need to start learning small strobes lighting.
I solved the high voltage sync problem by buying some Cactus wireless remote trigger from Gadget Infinity.
Don't hesitate to contact me if you want some more details.
Cheers,
Frederic
