Refreshments

Another "people" photo. People are the most interesting photographic subjects and I'd take nothing else if I could; the trouble is that I can't, being too diffident to approach potential subjects and lacking the brass neck to aim a camera uninvited. So this is about the best I can manage, a "candid" taken at the refreshment facilities of the University of Cambridge's Botanic Garden. The camera was resting on the table. I aimed it approximately, focused on 20ft (I imagine FLF-lengths, 30ft, as my units of measurement), looked the other way and pressed the shutter-release button. I had intended to photograph the elderly party sitting at the table; the woman entering right, seen from low down, was a lucky accident.

Nice class of person here ...indeed there are no nicer people than the kind who go to botanic gardens. Mostly getting on in years, but with an encouragingly large minority of the young. The refreshment halt was the result of Mrs B's infuriating "let's stop for coffee" habit. Eschewing the onion and chive kettle chips ...i.e. gentrified crisps... I settled for a miniscule bottle of the only beer available, Kronenbourg 1664. At least they offered me a glass, these days apparently considered optional.
