The acquired
Ladvale, that acquisitive Dursley-based independent, inherited some superannuated (but interesting) vehicles from the various South Gloucestershire fleets it bought out during the 1970s. TJD 463, an AEC Reliance with Duple centre-entrance coachwork, had come from P. D. & A. C. Stump of Berkeley. I think Duple called this style of body the "Britannia". Certainly the row of paired holes above the radiator grille correspond, in both number and disposition, to the letters of that name. The vehicle had been dumped, with many others, on open roadside land adjoining the premises of another Ladvale acquisition, Applegates of Stone, and was photographed on Saturday 9th June 1979.
