1930s house, Bristol.
Perhaps the need for renewal has not yet arisen, but I like to think that the chap who owns this house has made a deliberate effort to retain its original fixtures. If so, he deserves the Bentos Award For Taste in Architecture (BAFTA) ...an exquisitely-crafted statuette of Lord Clark in a setting of jade, amethyst and lapis lazuli.
Alone among the houses at Stoke Bishop, this one still has its flat roof and the stylish curved glass in the bay windows. The front door, its glass and fittings, all look original. It's a perfectly pleasant little house of its type and the bricks, nicely varied in colour, make a pleasing foil to the white walls. The form of the porch's "arch"is enjoyable. Our heroic owner has discarded his gardening boots on the front steps.
