Germany, Wedel. Pomegranate

The taste of the pomegranate combines sweetness & acidity in an exotic way. This is why the pomegranate seeds are ideal for refining desserts, meat. vegetarian dishes etc., often refine Mediterranean & oriental dishes

Pomegranates are harvested from September to December & contain numerous vitamins, minerals as well as secondary plant substances; mentioning only few ingredients like potassium, B-vitamins & other numerous vitamins, iron, especially polyphenols, which are said to have an antioxidant effect.

📌 The fruits stay well for two to three weeks at room temperature, if they are stored in a cool place, they can even stay fresh for several months. In contrast to the apple, the pomegranate does not continue to ripen.

The pomegranate was originally described throughout the Mediterranean region. It was introduced into Spanish America in the late 16th century and into California by Spanish settlers in 1769.

📌 To core the fruit, cut a square around the base of the flower, cut the skin downwards from the corners of the square, now pull out the flower base.

Then grasp the released area with both thumbs & break open the pomegranate at the incised areas. Break apart the pomegranate halves over a bowl, loosen the kernels from the skin & peel.
