Germany, Koblenz, “Deutsches Eck”, German Corner in Koblenz is the name of the tringle shaped peninsula with a giant equestrian statue of the German Emperor William I., where the Moselle joins the Rhine, clearly seen by the two different colours of the streams.

After the formation of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1949, in order to express the deep wish for a united Germany, President Theodor Heuss turned the German Corner into a monument to German unity. With German Reunification in 1990, the German Corner no longer served as a symbol of the aspiration for a united Germany.

The Corner with the statue became one of the many tourist attraction along the Rhine & the Moselle, also the triangle space in front of the statue became a location for large events in addition to concerts & open-air festivals.

A tourist cable car is crossing the Rhine connecting the German Corner with the opposite Fortress Ehrenbreitstein on top of the mountain on the east bank of the Rhine.
