Great Britain, London, “The Shard”. The Shard is actually Western Europe’s tallest building, a 95 storey skyscraper, from 68-72 floor the observatory at a height of 245 mtr & floors 73-95 the spire, the 309,6 mtr high building opened to the public on February 2013. It is a vertical city with luxury offices, restaurants, a 5-star Shangri-La hotel, exclusive residential apartments & the capital's highest observatory; its crystalline façade transformed the London skyline. The dramatic façades of angled glass panes reflect sunlight & the sky, so that the appearance of the building changes according to the weather, daytime & seasons. The building features 11,000 panes of glass, with a total surface area of 56,000 square mtr.
The Shard was designed by Renzo Piano in 2000, the Italian architect who created Paris’s Pompidou Centre
